Hi Guys - I know this is a mostly diesel site, but was hoping for some advice on some issues with a gas engine... is it okay to install a muffler on this engine, with one exhaust pipe (currently no muffler and too loud for wife). Someone mentioned backflow issue and we should install a 2nd pipe before mufflers.

dammit

i wrote a hole thing on back pressure, then looked over you post and saw, backflow and re wrote it.

Don't worry about back pressure, most marine mufflers aren't too restrictive like their automotive counter parts. and back pressure is a good thing in this application, back pressure can give more low end torque, good for coming out of the hole, you might loose a little at WOT, and i mean alittle maybe 2-3hp on a 270hp engine, not enough to even notice.
