Have some wash rail rot. All of the wash rails are rotted and need to be rebuilt.

Fairing compound is vinalester from LBI in CT. I will use an 8" dinabraid air orbital mud hog to rough it in and air board it . I used laminating resin to lay glass once it gelled I faired it.

So it's just vinylester based fairing compound with no structural fibers in it?
I'm always looking for the next great thing but normally don't get a chance to fair something that large in.

Yes , its very light weight, no fibers , sands easy. The only down side is it leaves alot of pin holes. I usually finish with 120 grit than use spray poly to fill pin holes. They didn't have poly in stock so they gave me the vinal for the same price. The poly and vinal seam to behave the same.

Ive always just bought cabosil and mixed it with laminating resin. I've even used talcum (baby) powder but it's a little heavier. if you're getting pinholes, I bet the fairing has micro-balloons/beads in it. Ive never had any luck with it, I've talked to guys that swear by it. West System 404? is super lightweight/ easy sanding fairing compound but its West System so its $$$.

It looks good! I'm hoping to get a layer of 1708 over my Coosa board tomorrow.
