Just ordered some replacement spray rails from Hamilton Marine today. They only had a 40' section in Searsport, which they are cutting in half to sent to Portland.

Can't wait to put her back in the water this spring!

These are the rails I am putting on:

21' Nordic Pêcheur (fisherman), out of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. Unfortunately, Nordic only builds Go-Fast boats now, and they killed the little Pilot House. Website.

They were originally built by Larivee, which was bought out by Nordic. A 70 HP Suzuki pushes her along at 15 kts cruise at about 3 gph, and 19 kts WOT at about 5.5 gph.

Here is a used one for sale on Long Island: Boat Trader.

I bought the boat new from Moriches Boat and Motor in 2002, and they delivered it to Maine.

MouseTrap - She looks great! I like the rails mounted on your washboard. Were those original or added later? You'll like the spray rails - nice addition.

Those are the one's I am replacing. They were original, and made out of some sort of Starboard material. It hasn't held up and is falling apart.

MouseTrap - done with the project yet? Are you adding a few feet of rail on the bow as well?

Not yet. I picked up the rails on Wednesday. For now I'll just replace the originals. I probably won't launch the boat until May, even with this UNBELIEVABLE weather we've enjoyed. It's still March in Maine ;).

thanks, dieing to see how they work. they are about 12'6" on each side i had to buy 2 20' sections so i have a couple of pieces left over. i should probably wait to see if these are good enough before getting rid of them.

It's hard to tell from the photo but how far apart did you put the through bolts?

I through bolted about every 12" and inbetween every through bolt i put a lag bolt in from the inside. Its hard to see because i countersunk the through bolts and after i filled the recess with 5200. Sand once then a little more 5200 and hopefully when i sand this time itll look smooth all the way down.

Installed the spray rails today. I didn't take any pictures, I'll have to clean a little blood off them ;). I did not counter sink the screw heads as I've seen others do on this site. The rails I took off weren't counter sunk, and I don't think it looks bad.

Now I have to address a soft spot I found in the deck :(.

Between the rain storms of last week and the rest of this week I cut out a soft area in the cockpit sole, repaired and replaced the deck, painted over the black hard anti-foul paint with blue ablative paint, washed, waxed, etc. Today after work I painted the cockpit floor with Cabela's Tuff Coat. It will need another coat the next dry stretch we get.

Forum member JRG came by the marina "in person", he was kind enough to offer some fiber-glassing supplies.

Pretty poor cell phone picture before splashing next week.

Enjoying the hot weather

Took an impromptu day off from work to enjoy the perfect day to kick off the official first day of summer.

Headed to Chandler's Cove with the family. Simply a gorgeous day!

Good day ends bad.

I'm really bumming!

I was headed home after a beautiful day at the beach with the family at my usual 4,600 rpm when "pop", the engine suddenly runs like it's missing a cylinder. I limped the rest of the way at 1,500 rpm and 4 kts.

The DF70 is 10 years old. I'm pretty pessimistic, and think that I probably blew the motor :(.

I'll know more when the mechanic takes a look. I was hoping to upgrade to a larger boat next season. If I have to re-power, I'll be hanging on to this little boat for a few more years.
