Stumbled across this link while procrastinating this morning:

Around the Yards - National Fisherman

Anybody know this boat or the owner? Would love to see a pic of it, basically because of this quote:

"Outwardly, the biggest difference between Eaton's 38-footer and other Northern Bay 38s is the alterations he made to the trunk cabin and wheelhouse. "I lengthened out the trunk house and pulled everything back," he says. "I thought the trunk was a little short, and it didn't look quite right.""

I've always thought most NB 38's have had the house and trunk too far forward for my eye so I'm interested in just how far he pulled everything back.

There's a cruiser top that has three windows and a longer trunk option. It's $3500 extra.

Yeah, prob looks something like this in kit form:

That's too far back. I know Travis responded to a post of mine a few months back about how far the workboat top can be moved back before needing to bust out the sawzall....I'm guessing that's what I'd need to do if I were to build out a NB 38' (if I wasn't in the mood to compromise, that is). Since Eaton's boat is a fishing boat I'm curious how far back he pushed his trunk/house.

Frank,If you compare the picture of the ...Emme... that OEM built and Jeff Eatons boat it seems to me that eatons trunk cabin is about a foot longer

We dragged it back about a foot. I think there is about 25 feet from the transom to the bulkhead.

On my 36 there is 21 feet of work platform so you can see how much of a difference it would make by dragging the trunk top and windscreen back 1-3 feet.

We also cut 8" off the top, gave us a sleek look and balanced what was there in regards to the cabin trunk.

I like what he did, the longer trunk and the 3 windows wider than tall really get rid of the deer in the headlight look. Nice job.

Depends on the harbor I'm sure

First year out I was heckled because I have such a long house

"If you can't bring in 100 traps what's the point of going out?"

To which I simply asked "Where is YOUR boat?"

That's right, they didn't have one. After that, no one as brought it up

I like a big deck think the short house looks good I don't need all the room up front just 3 bunks and I'm good so why not have 20 foot from back of house

I could see that being really popular among charter/tuna fisherman. may not be the most deck space but really compliments the lines in my opinion

Yes - Missing Florida but will be worth it.

6'5" in the center of the boat and tapers to 6'2" all the way outboard on each side.
