i have a couple questions about a 1977 18' pointer with a 88 evinrude i found for sale and i can't find any info about them hope to get some input.
Are they a wood free,solid glass boat ?
With out a test ride, how can i tell if the stringers are rotted ?
Is it a good riding hull in short chop ? cut through or pound ?
Is it a wet ride ? it has no spray rails ?
I like the hull style, and the one level deck, and the flat transom. i want to use it for crabbing in creeks and fishing the delaware bay, i know that's a lot of questions, but cant find any info on it. any input would be great to have before i talk to owners, thanks

The Pointer is very similar to my Eastporter. Soft chine with small keel and sharp entry (zero deadrise at transom). Wood stringers and transom core- plywood cored sole with fiberglass hull. I would say it cuts through the short chop but will get tossed around in anything larger than 2'. If the age of the boat is 1970s consider it a full gut job if it hasn't been done already. You can install spray rails for the wet ride (it will help).

Are you willing to rebuild a project boat? If not I'd look for a newer Eastern or Seaway and stay away from a potential project boat.

i guess i could jump up and down with my 325# a$$, that should tell the story. i have never done a rebuild before. i like the boat, he only want 2000 for it. which sounds great.just could not find any info on it.ill take the 2 hr ride this weekend to check it out and let you know how i made out thanks guys
