Hello ALL,

A new 32 Holland was "splashed" in the Merrimack River this week.
I spoke to the owner today and got some sea trial data. He's not on the forum, doesn't seem like a "computer guy" :D but was OK with me posting the numbers.

I would have taken pics but my camera is "misplaced". I'll try to get some pics this weekend of the Holland.

This owner sold his 38 Holland with 3208 power last fall and built a new 32.
He had Glenn Holland's shop build the hull, extended top, install the engine and running gear. The owner and he buddies finished out the boat.

He finished the boat using plywood not composite. Has an enclosed head, vberths, counter ect....nothing fancy...here are the initial sea trial numbers.

32 Holland
Cummins QSB 380 6.7 rated @ 3000 rpm
1.75 : 1 gear
1.75" shaft
22X22 sq 4 blade with some cup.

WOT = 31 knots with the 380 reaching just a "wisker" under 3000 WOT.

5 adults, 40 gals of fuel (boat has a total of 84 gals.) in twin under deck tanks.

The owner said the QSB 6.7 is super quiet and he recalls the boat went from idle speed to 31 knots in "exactly 4 seconds" :D

More to follow....Bill D

You know that that last statement calls into question the whole post, don't you?

David,

As in the 2012 WESMAC build...."I'm just the reporter" :D

The owner has promised me a "ride or two" before the season's over.

I'll "verify" the accuracy of the "4 seconds" comment when out on it. ;)

And remember..the owner had a 3208 powered 38 Holland for 20 years or so.
Maybe the 32 with the new 6.7 is just that much faster than the old 38 that it "seems like 4 seconds"

Is that sort of reduction common on those boats? I would have figured 2 to 1. 22 square- it's like a propeller- only smaller.

It's not just you. Maybe there's some reason for it we can't see.
