Bill did you buy this for the new boat or did you find a picture of it and could not control yourself because it was a "Cummins"!!

You can get service for it easily, as for Iveco you probably need to fly someone in if its ELECTRICAL! Thats the difference...

The engines are very similiar,Iveco has taken a bit more out of the "block" to gain there horsepower where Cummins has done it another way, perhaps stroke. Iveco was not supported well until recently when they started making a big push towards the American market. My guess is that they smelled blood in the water with the piss poor way Cummins handles its customers. I believe the smaller dealer networks and the Cummins products are both very good but the parent company blows. This is not based on any inside information just my first hand experience. Had Iveco possesed the kind of make presence that they have now my decision would/could have been different.

Not my engine. Belongs to the owner of a new 32 SeaVee build charter boat down in Miami. He puts 1,000+ hrs per year on his engine/boat.

I'll be "sea trialing" this engine in March !

Also, I want the 480 hp version not the 425 !

btw, when the time comes to order the new Cummins 6.7 it will be available in a 550 hp version!:D

You and I can bring the 33's to Maine and race against each other and others in our respective class!

It would be rewarding to beat the SISUs in the stock class !!!!;)

Bill all that sun down there in Florida must be getting to you, go have a cool drink and get in the shade. You know that Sisu can't be beat by a Cummins.:D:D:D

Is it my eyes or does this engine look very wide? Wide is not good for a de boat, it needs to nessel into the engine beds as low as possible and fit out of the smallest hatch you can get away with.

Optical illusion. It is the same dimension as the QSB 5.9 +- 1" on all 4 sides

This QSB 6.7 in a 33 Flowers will fit and look like a "lawn mower" engine compared to Plowin's QSC 8.3 500 in his 33 Flowers !!! :D

PLENTY of room in the 33 Flowers for either engine and NO engine box and plenty of side and front access.

I thought it had similar dimensions to the 5.9.

They're really gonna pull 550hp out of a 6.7L block?
We pull that & more out of the cummins in the Dodge pickups. Motor is an animal!! Nobody knows for how long though. That's the problem. Time will tell

I believe the engine will be fine for a long time, my concern and reasons for not buying one 1.)Limited testing in the marine market 2.)It is a high RPM engine (3300) 3.) The engine is not sleaved. If the spec sheets on the engine are accurate it "should" be an awesome engine with a torque curve beyond believe.

Some common power choice width numbers from OEM installation sheets:

Cummins 5.9 34.7"
Cummins 6.7 38.8"
Cummins 8.3 38.4"
Cat C-7 36.2"
Deere 6068 44.2" (400 hp model)
Yanmar 6CX 34.8"
Volvo D6 29.7"

I have a spread sheet with most critical dimensions and hp/rpms/fuel burn numbers if anybody wants a copy, drop me a line

Many differences between the Iveco and Cummins 6.7s

1.,,,,,,,, Try changing the raw water pump on the Iveco 6.7 ?

The Iveco raw water pump is so bulletproof, it never needs changed...

And 550hp out of a Cummins 6.7 in the future??? Iveco's 6.7 has a raw and untamed version pumping out 560hp for a few years now. Cummins is playing catchup, and they are still falling 10hp short. It's really sad. Bill, don't hate me, you know I'm speaking the truth.:D

560hp 6.7 Iveco has been around awhile now: http://www.thtsales.com.au/fpt-iveco-nef-n67-560-560hp-marine-engine/

I hate to rain on Cummins... er Bill's parade, but the 6.7 Cummins at 480hp is a 3,300rpm engine. The mighty 6.7 Iveco churns out a whopping 560hp at a lower 3,000 rpms. Lower rpms, more horsepower, less money, Italian engineering; something to think about...

33' Flowers with 560hp Iveco; can you say untouchable?

No raining on my parade/s. I'll stick with access to service, parts and available expertise with Cummins.:D
