New top and trunk

I don't really like the top on my 30' young bros and was thinking about putting a new top and trunk on it. The old one is 2 x 4 and plywood construction and is ugly, kinda weak, and all kinds of heavy. I would love to put something light and better looking on there but have absolutely no idea where to start. So i guess im looking for ideas on who can do that sort of work around mid-coast Maine and what kind of time frame and cost im looking at. Definitely not looking for yacht quality finish, just plain jane. thanks for any help! here are a few pictures of her now.

I don't believe there is such a thing as a complete top mold for the young bros boats. I believe there is wash rail and trunk molds for some of the hulls, but the actual cabins I believe were built with plywood or composites, like woundup's cabin. When I visited Stewart and viewed all his molds, I didn't notice complete top molds like the Calvin Beal boats have. But he would still be a good person to call if you are wanting to hire someone to do the work or looking for ideas.

Thanks for the replies, I'm definately looking to hire someone as I don't have the know how or the facility to do the work. I want to make the top longer by about a foot but ill call and ask about molds and such

You could also PM F/V First Team. I'm sure they can stick build you a nice top. Any decent finish shop can do the job.

You may want to contact Farrins' in Walpole, they are just up the bay from you, and do very good work.

so been looking around and talking to a few people and trying to figure out a game plan, right now im thinking about trying to get the molded top they are using on the south shore 30, they are building them at flowers boat shop. i was talking to a guy that finished the 30's up here in boothbay and he said the dimensions are all about the same, should fit up without too many problems. anyone here foresee any problems or why this should or shouldnt work?? attached are a few pictures of the southshore, i do want to shorten up the trunk a bit to bring the windshield forward, i want the windshield about 12 back from the stem.

You want the windshield 12" aft of the stem? That seems excessive

That's where it is now, from the front of the stem anyway, I think its pretty proportional.now, I just don't like the look of the actual top

Have you thought about putting a visor on the pilothouse for sun/rain protection? I put a 6" visor on the front and it not only looks good- it provides some shade and water shed.

yeah, ill make sure there is one put on the new top, dont really see any reason to put much into this top though
