Newb with a question

Hi all...great site.

Looking to add to my arsenal. Own a couple st's...never considered anything else. Trying to find a few more and haven't had much luck. I've seen some deals on vsx's...i've never fished with one or really checked them out. Thoughts?

International ST 130s 2 speeds were/are great reels.
VSW or VSX no where near as good.
Keep looking CL,ebay and any other classifieds, STs come up for sale from time to time.
If not get Tiagras.

I fish 3 Tiagra 130's and 1 ST.

was able to find a new out of the box ST on ebay over the summer but took a few weeks of looking every day to find it. they are out there its just a matter of timing.

If you found a single speed Penn, you could send it out to Cal Sheets for a twp speed conversion. I fished down w/ Peter Wright and he had a Cal Sheets two speed 130. That was some serious heat.

NB36, thanks for the offer...I found another st last sunday...had to buy the rod too but the deal was good...plus Luke's went through it before last season and the guy only went tight once so my faith in the drag system is high.

Petrel, Does this single speed conversion to two speed happen with the older H's or does he do that with the VSX's too? Interesting concept...is it the same gear ratio as the st once converted?

I don't know exactly what reels they do at Cals. Do a search for Cal's 2 speeds and you should be able to figure it out. I think they have most of the conversion info on their website.
