What is a 38 YB no good for offshore, or does the guy just want more room for traps?

There was one next to me for 20 years. They were designed during the wood to glass crossover. It may even have been a mold taken from a existing lobster boat that was efficient for that era. A stepping stone that was part of what downeast boats are today. They were great inshore boats for their time.

So is this boat wood or glass?

They are glass. They might look wood because you might be able to see plank lines from the plug. A lot of boats had that way back when. They built a wood boat and then took a mold off it.

I really like the shear line on this boat. Great looking traditional design. SW Boat works has the mold. It probably would have the plank lines with out fairing the hull. I think there is a short video on SW site. I believe they call it the "Slippery 38" very cool old school. Check it out.
