Lieutenant
Can anyone tell me the designer for each hull? (28, 36, 38) Im under the impression it is a different designer for each model?
38 and 36 are almost the same boat
No they aren't. Big differences between the two.
Travis is the man and knows his s#$t...factNorthern Bay 28 - Calvin Beal - Little Girl is the name of the original boat
Northern Bay 36 - Spencer Lincoln - corrected by Campebello Island
Northern Bay 38 - shares lines and influences with our 42 and a scaled up 36 - plug built in Holland, mold built in Holland, hull cast and brought over, used as a plug and then finished off into a boat.
Fact.
besides the higher sheer and the larger prop pocket and flatening out the stearn where it was extended what big differences are there?

The turn of the bilge, the rake of the bow, the amount of flare, the entry, the belly, keel. It's not just stretching the boat to make it longer, wider and deeper. Two totally different hull shapes.
Even the tumble home is different, but then again it's hard to have two asses look exactly the same.
If you are insinuating they took a NB36 and added 2 feet off the stern and raised the shire you have examined them well.
The length is different
the beam is different
the draft is different
as you say the sheer is higher
the sheer is different
the turn of the bilge is different The tumble home is different
the transom is different
the bow is different
the forefoot is different
the plane is different the keel is different
the skeg is different
A lot of these differences made for a slower 38' boat than the 36 but you have to remember the 38 is a bigger boat and it does real well for speed to HP.
They both can be made in the same color. the both are called Northern Bay they can have the same windows engine and trans. I guess a lot of things are different but a lot of thing could be the same too
