The Northstar 951/952 and 957/958 were in my opinion (and many others) the greatest chartplotters ever built. Shawn, I would certainly take up Larry on his old 951, as those units are bulletproof. If he also finds that chart, jump on it, as the prices on the Navionics Classics skyrocked from $99 dollars 3 years ago to $299 MSRP!! In fairness, the coverage was increased, but it's not like they added blowjobs to the chart cards. We sell them for $265, but it's still more than the Platinum Plus or Gold Charts. And to top it off, they plan on discontinuing production of the Nav-Chart format (Northstars and Furuno style) once stock is depleted of the actual chart cards. I have a 952x that I bought from a customer with the intention of having that as my backup for my boat that still does not exist as of this moment, but the chart card I have, the 674L, is from 2005, and I know from experience that channels and markers change, and off Red Bank in NJ this season was navigating on my friend's boat when we realized the entire channel was marked differently, and this was on a 2009 Navionics Gold Chart. So I'm trying to hustle Navionics to give me some sort of 'trade in' dealer discount on some updated data, but in the meantime, check the data on the chart if Larry does find it. If it's as old as mine, you might want to think about springing for a new chart, especially considering it's your emergency plotter. Just my 2 cents. You can always give me a call with any questions, ask BlueFin, I kept him on the phone for a half hour tonight while we were looking at boat listings. Thanks again Kyle. Awesome Samson, BTW!
