I have 2 antenna's that connect to my 952X, one is a square shaped antenna with the numbers AN205-P gps/beacon antenna printed on it
The other is a pie plate shaped antenna with Aero Antenna Technologies Inc
At 7530 1NW printed on it.
The unit plays fine with both antennas hooked up to it but if i unhook one of them(forgot which one) i lose the differential signal. So how much accuracy am i losing by not using the diff beacon signal?? Last year i didn't even have the antennas mounted on the roof i just laid them on the dashboard behind my electronics and everything worked fine. I don't want to have to drill 2 holes in the roof to run the wires so can i run and be safe/accurate with only using one antenna. If i need to run both how close to each other can they be? I thought to mount them on a T shaped mount and then could have both on one fold down mount.

The two antennas

you can just see the antennas behind the 952

Steve, guess nobody knows..... I love the 952 but have always used the 952x, no experience with the DX. If you like, try calling TOM at Starboard Marine here on Long Island, NY.... 516-764-1224 or 800-645-6541.He will def. know the answer. Warning - he is a character and a half. With regard to your second question, as far as i know, as long as the antenna can "See" the sky, you can put them close together, it shouldnt effect anything. Good Luck with it.

I called Northstar(Simrad) in New Hampsha' and got the answers i needed. I'm using the square antenna and since i don't know what my cabin layout will be like after i get around to building the split house i just put a big glob of hot melt glue on the top of the antenna and glued it to the ceiling :D above the plotter! I turned it on and let it play all day and it tracked like 6-8 satellites all day and never lost the signal. Hope it stays stuck up there for the season. Thanks for your reply.
