are we talking about pleasure craft engines, or low rpm engines like what would go into an offshore lobster boat/dragger?

For pleasure/sportfishing, the C18 seems to be the popular choice. MAN and MTU both have some V8 and V12 options and that'll get you up there. MAN might still have a V10 also?

You shouldn't have too much trouble getting rid of that 6140. They are getting hard to find and there are still some guys running them, looking for spares and parts.

Hey Dave, my buddy roger just put the c-18 in a 46 wesmac and he's getting 34 knots wot. Not enough time on it to tell you much though.

I would call Jim Bacle. Talk it through with him, I know some went to big power and didn't get the desired results. He is always willing to talk about his boats. He knows exactly what they will do.

going to meet with him in april I will pick his brain

I hear he got pretty busy, banging out some new boats. Maybe one will have the HP you are considering. That would be some nice info for you. I know some who put in big Detroits and they didn't go great for the price and fuel. New power is a different ballgame than the old leakers.
