opinions on this folding cleat

found these online and think they might be good for use when lashing down a load of traps
Black nylon fold down cleat 6" or 8" with stainless hinge pin. 6" goes for $17.00

Those look interesting. Slap a backing plate on them and go for it, I wouldn't use it for tying the boat up though personally. But lashing down a load on deck would be pretty much ok in my book, good price too.

That's what i was thinking Travis. I wouldn't tie up with them the pin holding the cleat looks like it might be 3/16" or maybe 1/4". My boat has a molded top & washrails so do i need to oversize the mounting holes and fill with putty/epoxy then drill for the bolts or do i just slather on some silicone and bolt the cleats down.
