There are a couple by my on the other side of the bay, if I get over there I will get some shots for you. The boats that I am thinking of are both over 30 ft.

not quite a 25' . it's a 23' samson with a honda 225. now that i think of it if you count the armstrong bracket the honda sits on it's about 25-26';)

A little better,

BTW, I was talking with Steve Law in October.
He had a canadian couple who were considering a 28 BHM build with a pr.
of OBs on a transom bracket.

I think in the end they went with a "real 28 BHM"

OOps, sorry !

27 eastern

hi everybody, i'm new to the forum although i've read your messages. my name is bob.,and if you don't mind another guy on board i would like to put in my 2 cents. i have a 27 ft eastern with a 225 merc on it. it's rigged for lobstering. the outboard is a piece of junk and was wondering what you folks think i should put on. outboard make and size. quite sure it won't be a merc. thanks

I think the Honda's look the best on the DE boats. I had a great experience with mine.

I'd go with the Honda or Yamaha. i own both and am happy with both, each has had it's own issues but nothing i couldn't handle myself.

FOOD for thought

i'm guessing the mercury is a 2 stroke so you might want to see the weight difference to a similiar 4 stroke, i'd guess a 100lbs or so. You throw that on a bracket and extend the weight out and it might change the way your boat rides. I have the biggest trim tabs i could get on the back(30"x12" with drop fins) to counteract it . To see if it makes a difference strap a sand bag(74lbs at home depot) on the swim platform, now and see how it rides.

I would go etec if you want 2 stroke (quick, quiet, good on gas & oil, light weight compared to 4 strokes)
If you want 4 stroke I would go with the best deal ($) you can get, best warranty and who will service in your area.
I had both 200 & 250 hp Yamaha 4 strokes.
Both great engines. Downside of Yamaha if you ask me they need higher octane gas.
I have plenty of friends with Suzuki 4 strokes and they are every bit as good as the Yamaha and you can run them on 87 octane.
