Paint Stripper for Bottom Paint and Topsides

Hello All

Since my boat moved into the shed, most blasting is out of the question, no soda or walnut shell locally, I am thinking about using the Peel Away products to strip the bottom paint and topside finish.
Anyone have experience with the Peel Away line, or have a suggestion on a "safe" marine paint stripper?

Haul it back out and have it blasted. Some guys can do a pretty clean job with it inside too. Chemically stripping will be a nightmare. How big is the boat?

I agree, all effort should be towards having it blasted. If it's not feasible, a large scraper and a good sander/vacuum can do it. Spilt the job into days/weeks because it is a lot of hard work. I still would prefer doing it this way then chemicals that would be overhead and dripping on you.

I attempted one time to strip the bottom of my boat due to poor prep prior to painting. Too much work, too little success.
Had South Coast Soda Blasting clean hull, well worth the $. Coat of barrier and two coats of Micron CSC black.
Zero problems since.
In addition, I don't paint my hull every year, too much build up.

If you decide to sand it buy or rent a drywall sander. They hook shop vac and have some reach to it. Keep you off your back for awhile.

Thanks for the insight. I just messaged a guy who has bone work for me in the past. He has a mobile setup and can do sand and soda if I remember correctly

Depending on how much space there is around the boat, I can sandblast inside no problem. What is your location?

Had a local, NC, guy quote Soda blasting @ $1500-$1800 for the topsides and Bottom. Doesn't sound like a bad deal, it will leave the surface pretty close to ready to barrier coat.

That is a good price, you saved yourself a tremendous amount of backbreaking work. The surface finish will be much better than if you tried to use a grinder or stripper also.
