painting a stainless rudder?

My boat has a stainless rudder that seems to have been painted in the past. The boat was soda blasted a few years back and has very thin battom paint, rudder is at the point that I can quickly wheel off previous paint and leave it clean. I use the boat multiple times a week. Should I just clean the rudder up and put a fresh coat, or leave it bare?

I put a coat of Sea Hawk running gear paint on her each year. Where I am I get to much growth to leave it bare.
