Painting rub rail

So the PVC rub rail on my 25GM is structurally in good shape but just looks like shit. Anyone got tips for restoring it? I figured some sort of paint would be easiest.

Slow acetone wipe.

You can also wet sand it with 400 grit then 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper then again use the UV Protection

Do you follow the heat gun with the 303 or you saying wipe it throughout the season to protect?

You can use just the heat gun. But I would wipe it with the 303 throughout the year to keep it from oxidizing and turning white. I use the 303 on my car's black plastic trim and wheel flaps.

If all I gotta do is run a heat gun on it, I don’t mind it being a spring maintenance item.

Make sure it is an "industrial strength" heat gun like this, Master Appliance HG-301D Master Heat Gun 300-500 Degree-MAHG

Otherwise use a propane torch, BUT KEEP MOVING!

I'm going to try a bodyshop paint called trim black I've had great success using it on similar material. I'll keep you posted after I do it.

Interlux perfection, two coats, then hit it with a scotch bright pad, and it will look and stay just like brand new. You can skip the scotch bright pad, but to me it’s was just too shiny. Sand with 220 to remove shine for first coat, then scotch bright pad before second coat
