very soft and pourous, it will soak up water. Shouldn't be used much over 1/8" without glass over it...it's a fairing putty just like BONDO except it use an MEKP hardner vs a BPO

Yes but as Mainely said you can't go to thick. For what you are doing it should be good. Assuming you are painting over it? West systems is a stronger option but alot more $ Go to Reinforced Plastics in Farmingdale (109) for the best prices on LI.

I second the Hull & Deck putty. I have 2 gallons I'll be using all over the boat, making radius joints everywhere there's 90s. The deck putty isn't like Bondo, so don't treat it like that. Shape it before it hardens. Not something you want sand a lot of.

If only you had asked this earlier in the day, I just finished puttying a 1,200 lb lobster tank, a bait tank and lid. H&D is not like it used to be back in the day, oh how I long for those bright red pails full of putty. H&D is a light gray colored polyester compound which can be built up quickly and holds its shape well while it hardens. It is a soft putty so that it can be worked into fine seams and it does have cross-linking properties so it gets a very nice bond. Takes a color easily just by adding some gelcoat, and you can thin it out if needed by adding some resin. Uses MEKP as a catalyst so one can just whip it up easily along with other products and expect results along the same lines as those products. Makes a nice bedding compound for components and is quick to take a radius. It is a wonderful product and has many uses in vessel construction. The red pail stuff you could mold and shape and its ability to stick was awesome, the new stuff is much too soft to be able to reach out across an open space with one application, I am sure that many smaller applications would work just fine, or just support the span with something until it cures - that would work as well.

Great for when you de-core a laminate, hog out the balsa/foam, hot coat the area, mix up a little resin with the hull and deck and push it right into the void. Wonderful, just wonderful.
