Razor Clam permits in MA

Does anyone know of towns in MA that they have commercial razor clam permits open to the public? The town im from only gives out 15 and theres about a 15 year wait to get one... At the rate ill be 29 by the time i get one. Ive been on the list now for 3 years and it already seems its been forever

What are they selling the product for? Food or Bait? Razors are pretty specialized creatures - they are found in very specific areas in your neck of the woods. I would challenge the local clam warden and ask why the permits are fixed at 15. Maybe one of the 15 is latent and you can get an order to turn in the inactive permit. Seems to me that the town should allow entrants if the fishery can support it. Do they have any evidence that there is a Razor Clam shortage?? I doubt that. You should ask questions, nicely, keep records of answers and facts, then attack. When you have the facts, then go to the selectmen. They would love to hear that a young industrious person is being kept down by a dumbass town employee and a ridiculous town ordinance.

Wish it worked like that it in the town of Duxbury, but it doesn't. About twenty-five people on the waiting list for the permit, for some of the younger kids like me and Bassin it might take 20yrs to get a license... if we reapply every january and maintain Duxbury residence

They get shipped to japan... just like everything else that come from the sea. I guess they use it for sushi or something? I dunno, but for the guys here its like picking up dollar bills off the ground. I'm almost certain anyone who has the permit uses it.
