So Rice paper, heard you guys talk about it in regards to saving the color of the fish...

So that gets me going, if I wanted to freeze some mackerel for backup baits, should I freeze them on rice paper on carboard sheets or what?

Funny but I usually tried chumming with herring in the past but was watching some of the guys on wicked tuna chumming with mackerel, figuring on the cost...

Thoughts?

Shawn don't waste time with rice paper for baits just freeze in bags and last year they were chuming Mack's because that's what the midwaters were catching

Make sure it's real maple syrup, not that Log Cabin, or Aunt Jemima caramelized corn sugar substitute crap.

That is a great book...

Can it be sugar free so the tuna do not get high blood sugar? Misstreatment and all lol...

I was thinking of brining them and then laying them out on pizza boxes and putting them in plastic bags just to have a few "selects" hence the rice paper ontop of the cardboard.

Anyone hydroflush them still or was that just a phase???

if you catch fish the buyer will give it to you

Which buyer? I use pj and so does a lot of others around here and no one is getting bait. I've heard of a few guys in glouster that get it from there buyers but they have to pay for it

If your going to freeze macs for rigging dead baits hydro gut then put in a solution of sea water, kosher salt and bait fresh which is the stuff they put on the veggies at the super market to keep them looking good. Then freese in bags with some of the solution. They will troll for 2-3 days they are so tuff & look so good.
