I'm looking to replace two flush mount rod holders. I got them on ebay for short money and now they are rusting like crazy. I guess they were not all stainless steel- only the top flange and not the tubes. Anyway... they are 45 degrees for trolling. I'd like to get good quality 316 SS holders to replace them and looking for advice. Can I go with 30 degrees since 45 degrees is very difficult to find? I like the type with the rubber liner and cap on top. They are 8" long, 1 3/4", 1 5/8" ID tube. I'd like to find some that will fit the existing holes. Any advice or recommendations for good stainless rod holders?

Never seen a 45, most are 30, 15 or 0.

You sure they are not 30??

Go with lees.

I 2nd El Mar on Lee's, their rodholders will last you for the life of the boat.

I have a pr. of Lee 30 degree I think I can sell you.

One brand new, one 2 years old. Both are the "large" size.

I can post a pic or two if you are interested

Thanks for the advice on Lee's being good quality. Do they come in a rubber top design? Maybe I can reuse the old ones. Will the cut out be the same for a 30 degree flush mount?

The only ones that I've seen with the caps are Perko. Lees are much better quality than the Perko. If you have a water issue with them lees makes a hose fitting that goes on the bottom to drain the water into your bilge.

Eastporter I am definitely a fan of lees. If your talking swivels I would always consider lees. On my 19 project I used ce smiths. They make a very nice product at a substantially cheaper price. In my case on the small boat I just couldn't justify 8 lees for stripers and mackerel. Pretty sure I paid around $45 for the medium duty. They also make a backing plate which is essentially the same as lee makes. Again if drainage is an issue they make a holder with a threaded bottom for a drain tube.

All great names here. Can't go wrong with any of those holders. It's when the holder is being used with bent butts for tuna that the quality really gets tested. And btw.. I think the LD Marine ones are great

Eastporter,i would go with the old C.J.marine rodholders....carl johnson was a great welder....he made beautiful holders and riggers and chairs..his company is now L.D marine welding...they are much better made then lee..they are welded all the way around ..not in three little spots...good luck

Thanks to all who responded. I'm going to wait until next season to replace but will go with top quality and 30 degrees flush mount.
