Does anyone know anything about either one of these boats? I've looked around on other boards but couldn't find much info. Wondering how they ride and the build, especially the Eastporter. There's one listed on CL that
I'm interested in. There's a couple of ROS's for sale on CL too.

Ros boats were made by the late Roger Santiri out of Westport, MA. They have a decent local following, but I think the I/O models are more popular than the outboard style (but I don't like them as much). They look to be a solid boat, and there is one for sale (24') that looks like a peach on CL. The Eastporter boats were made by Passamaquoddy Yacht Co. in Eastport, ME. I own a 20' model, but they also made 18'-24' models. They were made in bass, lobster, and center console styles. They sold some with outboards, inboards, and I/O setups. The full keel with single screw is for sale in ME, and the shallow draft I/O is for sale in Onset, MA. Both look to be in good shape and decent values. I haven't been on another Eastporter, so maybe someone else can tell you. The 20' model is soft chine with a small keel. It is easy on gas, but is definitely a bay boat (near shore). Older Eastporter boats were build with a lot of wood that rots over time. Just keep that in mind when buying and hire a surveyor if seriously making an offer. Good luck!

Thanks for that Eastporter. I'm looking at a 24' that is in Ohio built in 88. Going to call a surveyor tomorrow. So how much wood did they use?

I know of 3 ROS's for sale. 2 are IO's and one an OB. Like the OB but it only has a 35 gallon fuel tank. My tin can 19 footer has a bigger fuel tank than that. Kind of like "what the hell were they thinking" when they built it. I just can't imagine going fishing in a 24' boat with 35 gallons on board.

The only thing I ever found online was a very brief statement from a guy who said he wasn't liking his ROS at the moment. What that means I have no idea and he never followed up with another post. Don't even remember what Forum that was on.

there is a nice 30ft single John deere diesel inboard for sale on yacht world for someone looking for a day boat! Ive been bouncing that gall off my short list for weeks but I really need more than a V bunk and a porta pottie theese days. 10 years ago I would have been on her like white on rice.

jj, that Ros OB belong's to a friend of mine. The maroon one in Leicester, Ma.. He wants to sell it, had some bites. He wants to go down to a 20' CC, so he can handle it alone. What you could get it for vs. his asking price would more than cover the cost of putting in a larger fuel tank. There's enough room in the floor for bigger.

Otter, thanks for that. I'll see how the survey goes with the Eastporter before moving on.
