Hopefully someone can help me here. I am trying to figure what the distance should be from the back of the prop to the leading edge of the rudder. Is there a formula???

I think you need a minimum of .15 x prop diameter, but you can't go wrong with Team One's answer.

Agreed, enough to remove the wheel with the rudder turned hard over.

rudder leading edge distance from prop

Hope this helps...

Dave Gerr, page 198, indicates 15% of prop diameter, later in the chapter he discusses leaving space to remove the prop and putting a hole in the rudder to remove the shaft.
