Running ANY hull like that can be "dangerous"
Looks to me like they are going into a fairly good headwind that pushed the bow up. Probably not enough linear thrust to get completely airborne with those conditions, would need more of a chop to come out of the water. It is pretty close though.

Actually the keel makes the apparent entry angle deceiving. Ignore the keel and focus on the boot top and the entry angle is much less aggressive. I too think that this photo was taken at WH and it is possible that this photo was taken as the Camel flew over a swell that exaggerated the angle.
