All done with refinishing the hull, just gonna wait a couple days to buff out the gellcoat. When I removed the rub rail (insert type),the rub rail was attached with #8 flat head machine screws that go all the way through the joint where the the top and bottom halves of the hull meet. It would seem a truss head or at least a pan head screw would be a better choice to hold the rail flat. What do you all use to attach your rub rails?

Privateer
I just put a new TACO 1 7/8 inch rubrail on my privateer. Came as a kit. Included the screws which were flat heads as well as the caps. I went to far as to put 6 of their screws and then a nut n bolt with stainless washers. So every foot I have a but n bolt.

Some advice... When you put the little black "lock" back in to cover the screws, spray it to WD40 and tap it gently with a small hammer.

After 2 days the hammer marks are gone
