Seastar vs Baystar Hydraulic OB steering kits for 90 HP 4 stroke

Hi All,

I have a cable system that has a deteriorating cable.

I need to choose a new system or replace the cable. Mine may not be teleflex, as there are no marks and I didn't buy it. (Novi built 2005)

I was wondering if anyone experienced a 90 hp 4 stroke with the baystar unit.

Is it rugged enough, or should I spend the extra for the full Seastar Cylinder.

Sea star all the way the bay star unit is for light duty not gonna hold up to any kind of abuse

I was thinking the same, and have found more to suggest that may be true.

I also found some positive thoughts on the UFLEX brand units. I have all winter to dig around, but if anyone else has anything to say, I would appreciate it very much.

I went with the sea-star on my 115,I was told I wouldn't be happy with the bay-star.The sea star has been great,what a difference from cables.

Can't comment on the others but I've had Seastar hydraulic w/115 Yamaha since '02 with zero problems. Just a little PM (google seastar hyd. steering maint.) and you're good to go. I usually do it after haul out before winter storage indoors. The fluid is not cheap but in my case I've only had to add a couple ounces over the years. Super smooth compared to cable.

I have a Baystar system on a 19' boat. Honda 50 hp/4 stroke. The boat is a commercial crabbing boat. 5 years, so far no problems.
