I have just purchased my first downeast boat. It is a 23ft. seaway. The boat needs some rebuilding that I will do as time and money allows.

I`ve had the boat for 2 wks. I removed the cast iron pipe top and the bad storage/deck area in the forward part of the boat.

The boat had 2 side mounted gas tanks that I decided to remove, 1 had old gas that was leaking a little and the other was empty. I wonder if these tanks are of any use or should I just throw them out?

I ended up selling my old ones for scrap. I think on my 23, I'll just add a belly tank underneath the deck. I like the idea of keeping the weight down low. I'm trying to figure out if I wanna go with a plastic tank or another aluminum one.
