I owned a 28 Seaworthy for a few years and loved the boat. I sold it simply for financial reasons, I wanted to be safe when the economy was in a free-fall. I wish I had not.

Anyways, it was a 2001, had a Volvo TAMD63P rated at 370 hp. It would cruise at 20kts but I usually ran it at 17-18. It was set up with a secondary steering station in the cockpit which made fishing so easy.

Did I say I miss the boat? :) It went to Aruba, sold sight-unseen to a fisherman who is probably beating her to death....(sigh)

That was my attempt at sarcasm !
I actually had plans to buy Fair Tide from Hooper 2 different times prior to buying mine (he backed out on me twice)
In the end it was a blessing. No offense to his but other than him having more hp (I've got the 315 yanmar) mine is a far better boat ;)
Laid out much better !

Raider Ronnie?

Explain why your "layout" is better than the Fair Tides?
Curious

The cockpit of that boat is very tight. Believe the house just a bit longer than mine.
With the bigger Volvo motor the engine boat was huge on that boat.
The transom had a built in fish box that was huge.
Add in the deck had a fighting station mounted, though could be removed.
Some of the better layout on my boat was of my doing after I bought it though and don't think would have been possible with fair tide (full stb side swing up door & 3/4 open winter back with bi fold doors I made up)
Steve Law built a lot of cool storage solutions in mine also.

I saw Steve Law last Saturday, putting back together a 28 Seaworthy that the owner had hit a floating timber log with.
Have spoken to him about the 28 or 32 Seaworthy build, also a 29 H&H Osmond Beal build. He builds a great solid boat is a very likable guy.

what's an honest cruise for the Seaworthy/BHM 28? Can she do 22 comfortably (in reasonable seas) or is she an 18-19kt boat tops?

Hey Hooper. Bet you do wish you never sold it, she sure was/is a beautiful boat. As you know, if it had a bit more headroom for my 6'6" frame, it would have been in my slip. Hope all is well, Merry Christmas, Rick

You're putting me on the spot with that Bill & I don't have enough experience with the 28' to make an educated comment. I will say that untill I found the 32' Osmond with the 6'10" wheelhouse & huge pit, I was absolutely ga-ga over Hoopers boat & spent 2 weekends up the cape seatrialing & checking it out. That boat was rigged right & maintained to the highest standards. In the end, the boat I have works out Great for my uses & I'm sure that 28 would have too.
