Wish we had a better prawn industry here in Kodiak. So delicious...

Looking good Steve- I just whipped me up a smoked salmon omelette for dinner tonight, it was very good. My wife smokes the salmon and vacuum packs it for eating over the winter. Mmm good.

I had a guy call me looking for pots/gear said he knew of the place where the shrimp live over there. After talking with him a bit i figured out he was totally full of BS. Never heard back from him.

Nice spots Steve, I'm jealous. Ours never last this long,as we only get about a month here in the San Juan's to trap em. We eat em bout as fast as we catch em! Sure is fun prawning of the back of the BHM though. Enjoy!!

They weren't fresh ones, i had a few blocks of them still in the freezer. You guys don't get much fishing time for them but then there are 100 times more folks trying to catch them down there than we have around here. Do you have the 80 shrimp per person limit like they have in Hood Canal ?? We need some kind of limit here, either shorten the season or a daily limit would go a long way to make the fishery last longer. Just too many guys hogging as many as they can catch because there is no limit and season runs april 15 to sept 15 in PWS. I have customers that told me they put away over 700lbs of tails over a summer, another had to buy a extra freezer to store them all. The greed is going to wipe out all of the fisheries around here.

Steve, yes 80 per person, our season is the month of May, and only 4 days a week. Minimum 1 inch mesh. It's a joke. LFS puts on a prawning seminar every year on a Saturday and then for that day only sells all the gear 10% off. By the end of opening wknd, there is deralick gear floating everywhere. It's been a wile since iv had to buy any gear! Roger that on the greedy guys, they ruin it for everyone.

Yea they trawl them in Shelikof strait a little bit, once in a while a boat will bring some into town. But for the most part, this island is non-existent to shrimp which is weird, but maybe it has to do with the average depth.
