They are discontinuing them because they have newer models out. That doesn't make your current unit "obsolete" it just means it's an older model. It also does not mean that they will not provide support for the unit you have. I have a SIMRAD auto pilot that's 10 or 15 years old, was discontinued a long time ago. SIMRAD still provides support for it.

The way I understand it Simrad is their brand for saltwater inshore and offshore applications. Lowrance is intended for freshwater applications. And B & G is intended for sailboat applications.
I believe Navionics owns them all.
