Doe anyone have one for sale or know someone who does??? Maybe even know someone who can make me one?? All of the places that I called were not interested in making a net that small.

How small is a skiff net? Bill linked some ebay nets not long ago. Some looked pretty small to me.

Not sure who is making them locally here but they are around.

Maybe 30-40 foot sweep??? Something small and light enough that I can put the tow lines in the hauler to haul back and then pull the net aboard by hand. From what I am told, the whole thing minus the doors should be able to fit in a bait barrel. Im looking for something that is pretty durable though. I have seen some of those small shrimp trawls that you can get and they seem a little cheap. What I really want is a small version of a real net made out of lighter twine. I am getting a few quotes from local net makers, but if anyone has one laying around that is in decent shape and will suit my needs, I may be interested.

I called them today. I think the gentleman I spoke to was named jerry????
Anyways, he said that he wasnt sure what I was looking for. But what you just described sounds perfect. Do They have these nets in stock, or were they custom built for you??? If so, do you think that they still have the design??? How much did they charge for the 4.5?? please let me know.

Wilcox used to make small nets but i don't even know if they are still in business ???

A lot of the guys used Wilcox nets around here when you could do it.

A mobile access permit is required to tow inside Ma state waters now and they made it not worth anyones while to have one so.... now nobody has one

Don't know if Fisherman's Supply in pt pleasant still builds nets might be worth a call or they might know of someone in the area that still builds nets. I'd bet you could find a plan on the internet and cut one out yourself ??

Thanks for all the input guys. I met with jerry at levin marine in Fairhaven MA last week and we went over some ideas. Today I gave him a deposit and I should have my new net by next weekend. Hoping to kill many many fish.

I went and picked up my new net yesterday. It is a much nicer product that I had expected it to be. It is extremely well built. I am in the process of building some doors, and splicing up the bridals. I will try to post some pics of it once I have the whole trawl put together.

Don't be afraid to tie wrap some extra chain near the mouth maybe 8 to 10 feet up each side if you want it to dig a little more. If you don't like just cut tie wraps off..

Just wondering how you made out with the skiff net ? Thinking about getting one to try for some fluke .
