The build area is ready.
Tools supplies are on hand.
And the hull/top kit has arrived.

Ready to start!

I'm building this 30 footer for a few reasons.

1. It's probably the only DE boat I'll build of have built! LOL

2. If I DO build a DE, I'll have developed the skills necessary by building this 30 footer!!! LOL

3. Something to do waiting for spring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sweet!!!

Cummins or Yanmar? :D

El Mar,

I haven't decided on power choice or gear as of yet.

Being a new build I have to use a Tier II engine.

Thinking maybe a QSB 380 or a Yanmar 370

I have a little bit of time before the power train is installed.

I hope to have the keel set in a day or two. All depends on the weather.

Cold and windy right now, light snow tonight !!!!!

That is funny there Bill, you will get your fix one way or another.
I bought that exact model for a gift about 20 years ago, it was never completed and given back to me. It still sits in the box in my shop.

Is that a 12V system?

I remember back in high school we had a boat building contest in shop class, lots of square milk cartons with pens for masts and paper for sails showed up. Me, I made one out of fiberglass that had a small 1.5V motor in it with a shaft and a propeller from BlueJacket that I made custom when I tweaked the propeller so that it actually had some pitch to her. For the power supply I rigged up 3 9V batteries in series. She practically flew out of the water when it was dropped into the tank. I'd be curious what yours will do with some power boosted to it :)

Great project btw!

When ya gonna build it??
Starting mine on Thursday with one of my grandsons

I have some honey-do's to take care of first Bill. But I did have a plan for the powerplant: I had an old 1/8 scale Jaguar XJS model left over from my youth. That straight six could easily pass as a diesel, just loose the carbs, and find a scale plastic turbo, and some custom duct work, and somehow fudge the injection pump. See, I have thought about this. :)
After my initial dimensional checks, I think she would need an engine box. A big engine box. Yep.
And dry exhaust.........

Aaaahh.....................

My build will keep the engine under the deck. If it can't fit...well ????

Put a V-Drive on it! :-D

Hahahaha, leave Bill alone, stop picking on him. :D:D

Don't forget the exhaust elbow.

It's ALL fun and games until someone has a burnt up engine on the end of a crane hook!!!! LOL
Poorly designed exhaust systems are a BIG factor!!

And the V-drives....You just watch....Goodchance will have one in that 32 Holland.........that's of course if he's still young enough to build out the hull by the time he gets it!
