Has anyone ever installed a stick steering helm over a non-power Hynautic system. I want to install a stick on the aft starboard rail for docking and low speed maneuvering. My system is a pair of H-41 helm pumps with a HC5319 steering ram. My plan is to use a matching HC5319 ram under the rail, plumbed in parallel to the steering ram, pinned to a 4" deep pivoting rod holder with a 28" stick in the rod holder as a steering stick. This will offer a 7:1 leverage on the ram. I will need to install a shut-off valve on one hose to close the system when using the helm pumps.

It is a manual hynautic system, not power asst. I'm not really interested in spending the money to upgrade, nor does she really need it to operate. Thanks for the thought.
