Very nice boat Dr C, I take it from the 1st pic she's now hauled for the winter?.

Is the water always that color?, it looks like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory:eek:

The boat is down in the Carolinas or something like that if I remember right.

ETA it was Maryland.

Tuna.. Yes, I do hope you are right.. it is a lot of boat.
Konc.. Thanks, looking forward to seing one without the FB
Robbie.. Thanks.. Not hauled yet, the actual closing is next Monday and then I can get it out..what you see is the so-called Choptank River somewhere in Maryland. Long Island Sound is where she will be come spring..Would like to have it there now.. Considering getting it trucked.
BadL... Denton Md.. too far from home ...

:p:p:p Patience, patience, I know the feeling believe me I do!! I think you may change your mind about the trucking once you get a quote, I fell in love with a steel trawler tug in NC last year, Oh she was gorgeous, but to get her home would have busted my budget big time.

Beautiful Cruiser

That’s a beautiful boat Doc. congrats and best of luck with her.
Noticed you wearing socks on those nice hardwood floors…just like I do at home!
I suppose you don’t plan on seeing fish blood anywhere near the cabin.:)

Robbie.. probably not too different cost-wise motor vs truck from MD to City Island NY. I do agree the trip up will be fun if I can swing it.

JoeD.
Ha.. was wondering who would be first to comment on the aquamarine socks. Not mine I assure you. Thanks for the kind words... and you are correct, no fishing for me..

I doubt if you could get that boat to be under 13'6" so the trucking might cost a few bucks. Make some calls before deciding which way you are going.

Personally would drive the boat if you could find a way to do so and had a friend who knows what hes doing to help. Would be a great way to get acquainted with it and get your sea legs. No way to learn to run/dock that thing without just doing it.

Toolate, you raise an excellent point. I have estimated the height to be approximately 13 feet -13 6.. But without access to the boat... The max height on the NJ turnpike is 13 6 so that route is not possible..But they know this is an issue..
I got one quote from a shipper for 1500.. which is about what I was expecting.

Shipper confirmed, the FB would have to be removed in order to truck..
So, if not "one if by land" we will continue to be "two if by sea".

Go by sea! Enjoy the ride, play with the boat a little bit and learn how she likes to be run..

Thats what I would do.

I do agree. Its the time required.. not easy to sector out.
Add tides, spring weather and the difficulty easily getting to Md from NY and you have an alchemical mix of uncontroled variables. An academic's nightmare!

An interesting suggestion Old Bay.. Are you at Hopkins or U.MD? I have colleagues at both.
I will do the trip, the attempt to tranpsort to NY by land was more about getting it there sooner so I can begin to work it. Your itinerary is exactly right. Will have a very close friend and an excellent sailor with me, so I am sure it will be fun and memorable, and I do look forward to it..
