I emailed a boatdieselforum diesel specialist who lives in N.C.
I got an email back from him this morning.

Eric is "top notch", I've been following his posts on the forum for 6 years now.

If I needed an engine "assessed", (fuel, exhaust setup, all the "hang-ons") that I couldn't look over myself, I'd have Eric do it.

Bill- I'm in Wilmington, about 90m south of Beaufort. I travel up there often. In that area I recommend Rob Eberle, a surveyor based out of New Bern, which I think is about 50m away. Worked with him often, he's very good. We pair up, he does the boat, I do the engines. His contact info is "on them interwebs"

I know both of these gentlemen.

Eric is absolutely top notch and he would be my hands down choice for an engine survey.

Rob is thorough, a bit picayunish but doesn't know engines well.

As a team they compliment each other well.
