Grant Westerson is in Ct, did an excellent job for me, and he has a longtime sidekick diesel mechanic he can bring along for addtitional charge. Money well spent IMO

How far do you need the surveyor to dig?
Most will do oil samples and backdown test.
That’s probably what I’m looking to do. I did find one who would do both. But i talked to a mechanic and they said with the oil sample test if there’s anything alarming in the oil it typically means there’s blow by or an issue with the cooling system letting water in the oil

Captain Grant Westerson, from Old Saybrook 860 388 8899 yacht-safety.com. His mechanic is John Dudeck. if you use them, tell them they got the survey of Novak's Kaleidoscope exactly right, a great help.

FWIW I thought cummins made a 330 6BTA and a 370 6BTA withthe differnect being the key fuel pump. the 370 has been very fuel efficient, just as Westerson predicted

Thank you. I appreciate it. I never knew there was a 350 either. I was thinking maybe it’s a 370 with max hp of 350? The boat is an 87 so I’m not super familiar with what might have been around back then or changed since

Now my issue is finding a surveyor that isn’t 3 weeks out. Iv called almost 6 places and they are all 3 weeks

Sorry. Similar issue in 2021. Will your seller extend time? Absent such a great buy that there is a line of alternate buyers, many will cooperate…
