Hello im trying to get the boat set up for some recreational tuna fishing. Im gonna need a davit for my anchor and hopefully to get a big boy in the boat. Has anybody had any ecperience with LD marine's telescoping Davit?

Looks like a non-commercial version I had on my 28' boat. Mine worked well until I got snagged on a marker buoy and decided to haul everything up. Solid shaft or pipe? And if pipe thin wall or thick, it makes a difference (except with marker buoys, both will bend). What is your locking mechanism for the slide?

The first one I had made up had a thick wall outer section with quarter inch thick brackets drilled and countersunk for 1/4" bolts. The slide was another thick wall section of tubing with a flange on the end for the shackle and a rod welded across the other end so it wouldn't fly out of the outer section. Holding the slide into the outer section were two pieces of nylon I think, might have been polyurethane - don't really remember - just so everything slid nice and smooth. Locking mechanism was a nut welded to the outer casing with an angled piece that was threaded so a quarter turn tightened against the slide to hold everything in place.

After the marker buoy incident we cut off the rod at the end of the slide and replaced it with a piece of solid shafting.

Sliding davit worked well with the hauler mounted on the washrail. Good times.

Im gonna try and post some pics of my boat tonight . Its kind of a tricky spot. My pilot house is open on starbard side. I have 7" of frame comming down rear side. I was thinking maybe just a removable davit mounted. on top rail, with sleeve onto deck. I like the A frame swing out design, but think it would have to be custom made. Then I saw this setup (telescoping). Decision, decisions. Thanks for the advise. I guess I could always use this concept just beef it up. Just one of the many things to do before the season.

Yes its a Cape ann Zoo Marina. K dock. I have been out on it every chance I get. Still researching and tinkering with her. I have lots of buds to tuna fish with, but nothing like catching one on your own boat. It is realy crazy the attention to details and the little add ons the original owner did. I couldnt of afforded to do them myself. With that being said it needs the works as far as fishing gear and setup. Trying to keep it a pretty cruiser for the wife, but press a button and have it transform into a bloody fishing boat. Turning out not to be an easy task.

I know of a bunch of boats with that davit made my Louie (LD marine)
My opinion could be a better design.
Mounting it on top of the roof horizontal it only extends out, not up.
I've got something I think is much better, I'll try to put up some pics.
Mine is mounted vertical.

OK, I'm driving out to Brown's tomorrow (Monday) to swap out a steering wheel for the Zodiac.
No beer required!

I'll swing by if you're on the boat. 30-40 mph winds and rain.
I will show if you'll be there.

I know Roses well, and may end up there. I was trying to find something off the shelf before I had to refinance the house for a davit. Im all about doing things once and correct. Id rather cry once than twice, but it would be nice not to cry at all when the check book comes out. Im a little o.c.d. about over researching. I mean to the point where its unhealthy.

the LD Marine davit is a fine piece of craftsmanship. In that photo it is mounted on the Duffy 37 that I used to mate on. We hauled the anchor hundreds of times and never had an issue, even when the anchor got caught
