I just got this and I have not plugged in my cable since.. this little box plugs into your wall, then your TV..you turn it on, it finds your wifi..done..You have a way of streaming netflix..hulu..crackle (free movies).. and all the free cable channels you want.. obviously you just need internet..

Tell me more.
Which one (model) did you buy ?
Looks interesting and not good for cable companies if it's legal.
I remember when cable was under $20 per month, now it's 4-5 times that.

Ronnie. I got the $49.99 model.. its pretty cool as I said..you dont have to have a netflix account or hulu account.. there is a shit ton of other channels on there and "crackle" which is a free movie channel.. it just has commercials...What a lot of kids are doing that live in boston in triple deckers is they just share a wifi connection and 1 person gets the subscription to netflix and one hulu plus and they all login with that persons account.netflix , hulu etc have not put an IP address lock on their system yet so anyone anywhere can login with the same account at the same time as someone else.so all told they are paying say $20 per apartment ..its all legal they sell these in bestbuy

you have the option of using the high def plug or the regular 3 AV plugs.. I am not a big tv guy but I am sure you can split it.. I plugged it in xmas day and havent used cable since..

This is an internet device, not a cable tv device. All the content comes down as streaming media.

Many newer tv's already have some of this functionality. I bought a new Vizio that has netflix, hulu, amazon, etc. Haven't looked for crackle though.

I bought my brother one (roku) for xmas. He is talking about dropping cable. I'd like to, but my family is resistant.

One thing is for sure though. As these devices increase in usage, the cable plans will change. They will start charging a lot more for internet on its own and get you with the bundle pricing.

They will also start mucking with your download speeds. If you are using one of these services, you could see your data flow go from Mb's/s to Kb/s.

Right now, I have exactly one choice for internet. They have me, and without a second provider in town they will keep me against my will.
