Another piece of the overall puzzle courtesy of DEBF boat parts forum. A windlass was not on my list of wants when this all started but the plan evolves. I will need to collect the rest of the system to make it work but the Mrs. and Merlin got an upgrade.
Thanks once again to Regman99 for the pick up and delivery!

A nice surprise for Merlin this week.
Merlin had an AP 35 that had long since seen better days. I have heard good things about this control head so I wanted to put one back in during the refit.
After keeping an eye out for an AP35 for a while with not much luck I got a call from a friend that was upgrading to a newer system and just like that I have an AP for Merlin.
Pieces keep coming together for when it is time.
Hope and faith are always useful. Luck and thoughtful friends don't hurt either.
Thanks a bunch for a great deal to Capt. Jay Starr from Starrfish Charters for thinking of me and Merlin.

Any updates on the Merlin? The Salty 14 is looking rugged I must say! Nice work!

Waiting my turn and collecting parts to finish him when the time comes.
Looking forward to it but also not in a huge rush.
Still have the Crowley to repower and sell when Merlin gets closer.
Once in it will be done when it is done.
Good things take time.

No complaints with the ap35. And you know what they say, "if it's free, it's for me"

Just because the project is on hold doesnt mean the search for good used pieces doesnt continue.
Took a side trip to Swansboro, South Carolina get an AC unit for Merlin.
The sedan wasn't expecting it but we made it work.
Now I guess I will need a generator after all.

That's what I now need. This summer was too damn hot.

Still collecting pieces as money and opportunity allow.
I love the TZT 14 on the Crowley so Merlin will get a pair of TZT 15's.
One down, one to go.
Thanks again to Wharf Rat for a good deal.

What did you do with your old AP? You cast off is probably good enough for my rig!

I am pretty sure it went in the bin. I doubt I would trust it after 5 years outside while Merlin waited for me to come along.

Any details on your Crowley Beal 33?
Thank GOD I don't have one of those. The Mrs. only has so much patience. ;)
Just kidding. My Crowley is a 28 and there are plenty of details here:

The search is over. 28 Crowley Beal

There is another thread somewhere about the rehab done at SSBW when you're done there.

It will be sold when Merlin is in the finishing stages.

Nice way to end the week seeing this on the porch today.
Continuing to flesh out the electronics package one piece at a time with this SCX20 badass satellite compass.
Any progress is good progress.
Another TZT15 and a sounder tbd will be the bulk of it.
Thanks again to Wharf Rat for the great price and friendly knowledgable service.

A sad bit of news came my way today. The original owner of Merlin passed away earlier this week.
Taken away too soon by a disease that does not care or discriminate.

An interesting, hard working guy that I only knew in passing.

I will do my best to honor his memory with the reincarnation of his hard working boat.

Rest in Peace Chuck Butler. Your troubles are over now.
