Thoughts on Awlgrip - Whisper Gray

Just shot Alex Seal for 1st time. Lays down very similar to Awl Craft. Shot Matterhorn white and will get Whisper gray non skid. Coverage is great. They recommend 2 -3 coats. I did 3 due to first coat pretty light . Rep was over the other day and said you can put 1st coat heavy . Not used to that. More to follow with non skid .

Very nice! Alexseal is an exceptional finish for sure. I was wondering how are you going to apply the non-skid? I found I got the best results spraying it, but that is not an easy task. I had quite the difficulty, probably due to wrong tip on the gun. What are others experiences and suggestions? Looks great though.

Looks good, what color is the hull? Why did you not paint the spray rails with the hull?

Hull is Matterhorn white , rails are painted same as hull , my phone takes crappy pic in shop with the fluorescent lights

we used whisper gray awlgrip 2000 about 4-5 years ago. holds up great ,very pleased with the product.

I just had my boat painted with the new Awlgrip HDT (High Definition Technology). It’s hard like Awlgrip but Patchable like Awlcraft 2000. There is another thread on the process. It’s a three part paint; base, converter and an accelerator. (Plus the reducer). It’s about twice price of Awlgrip 2000 but the shine is really stunning. Mine was the first boat painted with it at American Custom Yachts in Stuart. They said it was no harder to spray but there is a wait time of about an hour between coats (in my case anyway due to temperature) which they didn’t like. The Awlgrip rep was there to help them mix the paint.
