Transducer paint

I have a new transducer and was wondering if i should paint it with transducer paint or some kind of protectant to prevent growth. What are the pros and cons ?

The 1 con that I have found is that it doesn't seem to work for shit. I still get some barnacles.
This is what I have used. PAINT TRANSDUCER 2-OZ.

I applied 2 coats of the stuff hamilton's sells last season on my transducers and it was a waste of money. Made no difference, same amount of growth as the season before.

Thanks guys for your response. I think I'm going to try prop speed for my transducer and also try their coating for under water lights.
