What a diffence five years makes when getting a TWIC Card. There is a new location at 50 Congress Street in downtown Boston which is easy to get to with public transportation. If driving you can park in a 14.00 lot and have a ten minute walk. I walked in about ten days ago and used my passport as the ID, was figerprinted and photographed, filled out the paperwork and was tokd in a week to ten days I would have the card. I was thinking right, last time was like 90 days.
Yesterday I picked up the new card and could not believe how easy it was. It did cost the $129 for the renewal and yesterday was told, do not put in your wallet, it will demagnetize and I will have to pay $65 for a new one. They gave me a hard plastic case ID holder which is fine if I was walking around a facility but on the boat, I will have to put down below.
I was overall impressed with the service and now I am hoping my license renewal goes as smooth. I submitted that package to the REC in Boston last Thursay and today one week later it is in the "in Transit" phase at the NMC. My current one expires June 5th, so I am a little nervous to say the least. As long as the medical review part has no issues I would expect it to be a smooth process.
Have a good day
