under deck engine

hey all,
new to the forum. a lot of really good info from everybody.
in what boats in the 28-30 ft range would you be able to put the engine under the cockpit sole, or with only a very low box, such as the aj28?

My 31 Duffy has a small box 10-11" that's with an 8.3 cummins. I think some of the 28 bhm' are being built without a box.

4" step up .
