My group bought 45 watt VHF's that were tuned to our own channels plus had scramblers, nobody could hear us. We went the code business and also used vhf/uhf radios, we would talk on vhf and the other guy would answer on uhf, that worked for awhile till the other groups found our channels, but we also found their channels;). Once we went with the other radios we had no more problems. Guess now a lot of guys just use their cell phones.

We've got good cell coverage in the inlet but its tough to talk to everyone in your group at once via cell phone unless you're texting and that's tough to do with gloves on and on a rocking boat!
