Just got word from my wife who is in Virginia Beach, the bluefin have landed there again this year. The past two days have seen some legal fish landed with what appears to be more on the way. They are three miles offshore mixed in with the striper schools. Sure beats a trip to the canyon but you have to navigate around everything from the largest sport fishing cruiser to a bathtub with oars.

My inlaws live in Va beach. They were just up for the holidays and im well over dosed from their bullshit. I dont think even bluefin 3 miles off shore could get me to VA beach right now. :(

Leaving tonight. My wife, who is in VB, has been sitting on the beach watching the guys trying to catch a tuna on the bass schools. She said there had to be 50 - 60 boats fishing the area. A couple of fish were caught, not many.

I'm in VB. Not much going on down here. Yes, there have been a couple of fish caught but that was done by a lot of boats fishing. Mostly the head boats and sport boats. Been talking to a tuna buyer and he too feels the run down here is either just starting or hyped. The water is cold and dirty. We are going to spend more time here but if any up there are thinking they are missing out on something, you're not.

I feel there is a much better chance of catching BFT or YFT and Bigeye in the Hudson Canyon. I had to come south anyways, so I'm happy to be here but I still think the fishing is still up North.

Would be mint if you hands on a VA stripped bass permit. Get away from the fleet targeting scattered bluefin and fish in peace while waiting for the main body of fish to show up.

We are happy to be here. My daughter and family just moved here from San Diego. We got to kill two birds with one stone. I wanted to see what VB was all about with the tuna and it's a perfect stopover while heading south for the winter. We trucked the boat and gear to VB and will leave most tuna tackle here until NC starts up.

Another few days and we are outer here if nothing starts up. The wife has been here for two weeks and is beginning to give me the I'm ready to go look. She feels a tan is worth more than a tuna and wants to get going to FL.

I hear that. I havent seen my house in FL in a couple years. Im planning on going down for a few weeks this winter.

Last time I was in VB I spent most of my time checking out a bunch of war plane exibits and eating. Some how I never made it to Basspro shops. Although I drove by it several times headed other places. I regret that.
