For now, since it's a rare occasion that something other than a DE gets posted, I don't think it's worth monitoring and dealing with it. Where does the line between DE and "other" begin anyway? Wasn't there a lengthy discussion about the definition already, with out a resolution?

What you really need is a minimum number of post setting before anyone can sell anything to keep the people who obviously only come to the site to spam what ever crap they are selling.

I had to join a site once so I could see the contact info of all the sellers. There was a minimum post required of 100 posts to see:eek: I thought that was easy enough:D I guess..since nobody really reads the rules..there was something in the rules that stated you can't post just to get the count up to 100 so you can buy something:rolleyes:. Wouldn't you think the site would want you to sell your items?

Anyway.. I got banned and had the most negative red light sentiment votes in the sites history. You were supposed to get banned after three.. I had 65 after they erased a bunch ..Everyone jumped on the band wagon ...it was actually fun.. But rules are rules and part of the reason some people like places that allow you to say whatever you want.

I don't want to have to scroll through Carvers and Searays when looking throught the DE classifieds, I would prefer DEs be in their own section. Raider Ronnie has a good point about "what is a DE", but there are clearly some boats that aren't one.

Maybe non-DEs are like porn, hard to define but you know it when you see it.

A case in point.
The guy last week posted 2 Shimano reels for sale.
2 post total.
1 for a boat.
1 for the 2 reels.

I wished he had 3 posts .. One for a rto diesel engine that he wanted to get out of his garage because his wife was getting pissed she couldn't get her car in there:grin: come get it free by tomorrow!

Ronnie.. I know where you are coming from and I will moderate those but if we require a certain amount of posts we are essentially going to be just selling boats to eachother and the classifieds will be boring. I don't have a problem with a new member coming on here solely to sell his downeast.

I would say that any boat that you can walk through the wind shield to get to the bow should be excluded...

I would like to see new england classic designs such as fortier and Crosby included. Also novis
I would imagine some leeway would be allowed for these cases.

Sea breeze boats in Newfoundland are known to be great sea boats, the hull is a hard chine novi style with substantial keel for an outboard. Surely a better sea boat than the sea ways or general marine 22s. One popular model they have is a walk throug windshield:)
My point is that leeway has to be given to deserving Boats of Atlantic north america that are connected to the lobster boat/commercial fishing heritage

Novis, Mackenzie, fortier, etc will always be allowed on the site.

If you want the site to continue growing, you need to accommodate additional points of view. There are some who have come and gone who wanted it to be downeast commercial boats only. End of the day, the owner/moderator decides how wide a net he wants to cast.
