I actually have a hoodie that says “back the blue” and I wear it religiously.
"I don’t know what I’ll do next as I honestly have no useful life skills whatsoever."
Holy crap, that has to be the most untrue statement here !!. No Skills ?? It takes way more skills, fortitude and patience than i could ever muster. Or would want to. I have a couple of friends who are officers and I always said that would be the last job i would ever want. "No Skills my ass" I think working in bilges, grinding fiberglass sucks but still better than your job. I am one thankful guy that there are folks like you who no only do that job but actually like what you do !!. "No Skills" yeah right !!. Thank You.![]()
Yes but your the guy people call when there lives are in danger. That means so much more.Thank you Mud, I appreciate that. And by contrast, I look at what guys like you and others here on this site can build or fix or create or rehab and I’m simply amazed.
I’m the guy who goes to the dealer for an oil change because I figure I may F it up and it’ll cost me more in the long run, lol. A guy has to know his limits
Exactly, Don't call me when the shit hits the fan. Not to many folks would like me rolling in with Mr.Smith and Mr Wesson 44 Mag. to settle the problem. I'm just not a politically correct people person. Thank you for filling in that most difficult part.Thank you Mud, I appreciate that. And by contrast, I look at what guys like you and others here on this site can build or fix or create or rehab and I’m simply amazed.

Well now you know G4B. I guess i have been known to derail a thread or two. Guess im really not sorry about it though. Sometimes (Like this) it's just a good time to Thank someone where you may not otherwise have opportunity to do so. So many people to thank and so little time.I was wondering what happened to this thread.
Hooper, thank you for your service to our country and the community you serve. Have always respected the first responders. God bless you and your family, please stay safe.

All I got from all that was “topless wife”.My first career choice started in a boatyard around the age of twenty yrs old after dropping out of college. My grandfather was an auto shop teacher and lifelong mechanic therefore he always tried to instill the value of knowing how to repair engines and anything mechanical. Working as a yard hand waxing and painting bottoms at the boatyard but constantly looking over the shoulders and hanging out in the mechanics shop area they discovered I hand some knowledge and I started turning wrenches. The owner sent me to tech school for marine mechanics in Florida for a year. I worked in that field for a few years and then took a job at a wooden boat building shop where I was the mechanical guy but learned woodworking and fiberglass work when not installing an engine or some other system on something we were building or restoring. I built my Southshore 30 while working there in one of our empty bays over a winter. I had also one earlier winter took a course and gotten my captain license. That was 2000 I believe?? I started fishing and doing charters and got into the fire service after I watched my topless wife perform cpr on a man who had drowned, on the beach in the Virgin Islands while I looked on feeling helpless. I took the Emt course when I got home and now work as a firefighter/EMT. Currently work on Nantucket FD. It’s a great schedule and have been running my charter business since 2002.

I know right.....then comes the mental picture of a topless woman doing CPR......wait I gotta go to the mermaid section.I got “topless wife perform”
Ty, all kidding aside, that is an amazing story. That guy is only here because she knew exactly what needed to be done! And to get the gift of life once again on his birthday? Talk about meant to be. Stay safe out there buddy!I guess the part I left out was that she saved the guy. Imagine waking up from dying of drowning on a beach in the VI with a topless woman kneeling over you. Even better, it was the guys birthday. For years she got cards from him in his birthday thanking her for saving his life and giving him a new one on his birthday. And to see if she wanted to leave me and come live with him too maybe lol. He had to be picked up by Virgin Islands search and rescue boat and transported to Tortola where they had a big hospital and he spent a whole month there recovering before being able to fly home to the states.
