If you were to build a 34-38ft downeast which would it be and why? Take into consideration build cost, hull economy, seaworthy, and anything else that comes to mind. This boat would be used for 6 man chartering.

35 Duffy or 38 Northern Bay.

35 Duffy is probably one of the nicest 35 footers and in my opinion one of the best riding. You can have a nice cruise 17-19kts without breaking the bank in fuel. Perfect for 6 man charters.

38 Northern Bay. One of my favorite boats. Really considered getting one but the H and H was too good of a deal. They also have a real nice cruise speed. Depending on engine you can cruise at 20 plus kts pretty easy. Nice size cockpit and wheelhouse.

6 man chartering inshore . I send my offshore work to other boats because I am too slow at the moment. I am looking at a single level lobsterboat, with a finished cabin, sound down. enclosed head, bunks, hydraulic hauler for my anchor system, generator etc. Basically a finished boat

The 35 Duffy makes total sense for 6 man chartering. It is very efficient moves quick, nice ride. It is a little tight with 8 big guys though and the new build price is crazy.

The 34 Calvin, 35 Duffy, 36 Wayne, and 36/38 Northern + holland have been my considerations. In the next year I will pull the trigger on something..... probably a used boat if the price and power makes sense. Any input from the guys on this site can't hurt.

Yes I am interested but this boat new is a pipe dream for me. I know that northern for sale but I would never spend the $$$$ asking price or anywhere near it. I think he's asking $350k +. Nice boat but out of my league.
